This is a second unit of the book Model Textbook of Mathematics for Class XI published by National Book Foundation (NBF) as Federal Textbook Board, Islamabad, Pakistan. On this page we have provided the solutions of the questions.

After studying this unit, students will be able to:

  • Apply matrix operations (addition/subtraction and multiplication of (matrices) with real and complex entries.
  • Evaluate determinants of 3 x 3 matrix by using cofactors and of determinants.
  • Use row operations to find the inverse and the rank of a matrix.
  • Explain a consistent and inconsistent system of linear equations and demonstrate through examples
  • Solve a system of 3 by 3 non-homogeneous linear equations by using matrix inversion method Cramer's Rule.
  • Solve a system of three homogeneous linear equations in three unknowns using the Gaussian elimination method.
  • Apply concepts of matrices to real world problems such as (graphic design, data encryption, seismic analysis, cryptography, of geometric shapes, social network analysis).

There are six exercises in this unit. To see the solution, please choose the exercise given below.
